My son always made fun of the movie “Sixth Sense”. He would look at me and say “Mommy I see dead people”, then break out in his little giggle. I always thought that was funny, seeing as how I CAN see and hear others who have passed, but I would just laugh with him and say ” I see them too. But you better stop saying that!”
Well low and behold the Law of Attraction is at work. For about 2 years now I have noticed my son being more interested in what I do and telling me about weird experiences he was having. I knew what was going on but waited for him to come to terms and be more comfortable with his new found ability, and that happened this week. I was so happy and proud! Well, I am a mom first ya know!
It all started with a phone call a couple of days ago. He and I have our normal evening talks on the phone since he lives in Jacksonville, Fl. with his Dad. We talk almost every night and he tells me about his day, nothing riveting usually. But the other night, he began to tell me about a patch of fog he had seen that morning. He was on his way to school, and from out of nowhere there was this fog. He said it wasn’t large but as soon as it was there, it was gone again. He had a funny feeling about it, so he asked me to see what I felt. I told him I saw many people but 2 stood out, one was a gentleman in a Civil War out fit and the other was a lady with red hair and a red dress, looked like she was from the WWII days. We talked about it for a little while then got onto other subjects. These kinds of things are common place for us to talk about, the kids have grown up around strange happenings and things. All was well, or so I thought!
“Someone Keeps Calling My Name”
Not 2 minutes later, he called back. He was a little nervous and said “Mommy, I keep hearing someone call my name. I look and no one is there but I know someone is here.” I took a minute and could see it was a kid about the same age as my son. I started to ask this kid what he wanted with my son, while Colby was listening to this conversation. He wanted to skateboard with him, but the more I connected with this kid, the more negativity I felt. Colby felt it too.
Finally I said, “If you are not from the White light you have to leave. You cannot stay.” I immediately felt something release, he had left but was angry. To clear things out I always call upon the Angels and Saints to come down and clear any negativity to send it back to where it came from. Then an Our Father, since I am raised Catholic.
My son and I were at beginning of our prayer when the phone call was disconnected. I tried to call him back twice but couldn’t get through. This is nothing unusual for me when I am doing a clearing, but Colby was upset. I finally got back in touch with him and he instinctively knew what had happened. It freaked him out a little bit he said, but I told him that was normal.
Finding A Skateboarding Angel
After I was sure things were okay, I asked Colby if he would like someone from the White light to help him skateboard better. He said Yes. I was so happy, he was being so open to this experience, it made me see how much potential he has if he chooses to take this further.
Colby remembered a boy named Stewy. Stewy died skateboarding because there was no safe place to do it he was hit by a car. We know this because Colby and I have been to the skateboard park Stewy’s mom built in his remembrance.
When Colby said Stewy’s name he came right to the forefront and was excited that Colby had asked for him. Then my son asked me to teach him how to communicate with Stewy. I told him how it starts, so he is working on that.
I am so proud!
Well the best part is next.
The very next day Colby called me so excited! He had been trying to accomplish a trick for a while and was not too successful at it, but on that day…… He did it 11 times in a row! Stewy said it was all in his timing. How cool is that?
Colby is opening up and learning to communicate with those who have passed and I am happy to see that he is not withholding part of who he truly is anymore. He has given me updates on his conversations and I am coaching him through it. AMAZING!!
So, when he was little all those times he said “I see Dead People” he was telling the Universe that’s what he wanted, and well, you know the Universe! It responds to what you focus on. I hope everyone takes the time to talk to loved ones that have passed. Take the time to feel them, not see them. You will feel their love in return. But if you have any trouble with that, just give me a call. Have a great and wonderful week! Blessings!

That is so cool! I am sure it will be very beneficial for your son to have a positive role model making this new found experience less scary.
I had something weird happen about 6 months ago. At my boyfriends house, I went to sleep in the downstairs bedroom because my boyfriend was snoring. Just as I was about to fall asleep I heard a woman say my name. It was not in a scary voice or anything, but it was in a tone to get my attention – like to wake me up. And believe me, I woke up! I looked around wondering who was in the room and there was no one. I told myself I was dreaming and to go back to sleep. As I was going back to sleep, I said to myself, “Who would want to contact me anyway?” And the name Izzy came to mind. I don’t know of anyone named Izzy but needless to say it scared me so I ran upstairs and slept with my snoring boyfriend for the rest of the night.
How can you tell if it is a negative energy?
Congrats, you have just indoctrinated your son into your mental illness.
We mock what we don’t understand
Sometimes, yes, and sometimes we mock what deserves mocking. This is a pretty clear cut case of absurdity. If she was only talking about herself, I would just shake my head at the remarkable cognitive dissonance of some people, and move on.
But she has to get her son into this nonsense too?
Unfortunately, most people do respond to sentiment, not argument, which is why her heartwarming, but irrational story sways more people than my pithy comments. But if a thousand years of charlatans, failed predictions , exposed ‘psychics’ and absolutely jack squat in terms of EVIDENCE has apparently failed to convince people, nothing will.
A lie softly spoken is still a lie.
So, let me try an argument that might convince the average reader.
I know she is a fake because my personal unicorn told me so. His Presence in my life has transformed my ability to Love, and I just want to share this gift with all the people on this planet. He has urged me to reach out in Love to show people the true way, and to expose false Prophets. I understand if you don’t believe me, for it is difficult for people who are set in their ways to open their minds to the true nature of our reality, and begin communing with our personal unicorns.
If you don’t agree with the above statements, please just ignore and move on, but if you’d like to know more, send me a private email and we can begin the coaching process. I also have a newsletter you may be interested in that will help you start your journey,
Many Blessings!
Thad ( and pinky, my unicorn )
Thad, You haven’t left an email for the readers to contact you through, or a web address for the newsletter
Yeah sorry. Pinky is working on the website. He tells me it will be done soon! Stay tuned!
I don’t like to give out my email in web comments though, but if you close your eyes and wish really hard, Pinky will IM it to you. It’s your first step on your journey of Unicorn communing, and when you get that first IM, it gives you a tremendous feeling of accomplishment!
Love and Blessings!
all right then
Good Luck with the website Pinky. I’m sending you energy for a speedy and successful web project
I think what interests me most Thad, is that we have never spoken and have never met. Yet you would form such an outrageous opinion of me for being an instrument that brings people peace and strength.
I am used to the controversy, people tend to not believe in that which they do not understand. And that is okay, but before you don’t believe in something I ask that you at least check it out for yourself.
Let me ask you, the opinion that you have formed about me, is it from what you have learned from somewhere or is it absolutely from what you feel within?
Blessings,
Kandace
My outrageous opinion of you is commensurate with your outrageous claims. You may be a perfectly happy and friendly person, but you are seriously deluded in your belief in the supernatural. If that was all, well, then to each their own. I personally don’t care what people believe. I do care when those beliefs are perpetuated to the detriment of our shared society, are codified into law, prevent the further advancement of science, or are forced onto children that have not fully developed their abilities to rationally think for themselves. I consider that child abuse, frankly.
I respect a person’s right to have an opinion. I don’t necessarily respect their actual opinion. My respect for the opinion will depend on the value of that opinion, which, in the case or psychics and ‘Secret’ adherents, is quite low.
You also are quite arrogant to keep suggesting that my opinion of you is simply because a lack of understanding on MY part. It is you who are making extraordinary claims, so you are the person who should then provide extraordinary evidence. But it is the common tactic of all supposed psychics, mystics, and mediums. They claim the world doesn’t understand them, that scientists don’t have an open mind, it takes faith, they are unfairly persecuted, they are against the ‘establishment’, blah blah blah. Why do you assume I haven’t ‘checked this out?’ I don’t think it is necessary to investigate every claim when these types of claims have been shown to be false time and time and time again.
If your powers are so wonderful, perhaps a good way to show people would be to attempt to win James Randi’s Paranormal challenge?
http://www.randi.org/research/index.html
Should be easy for you, no?
As far as you being an instrument for good, that is extremely debatable. Filling people’s head with nonsense, even for their short term comfort and strength, ultimately is a disservice.
Wouldn’t it had been better for you to instill in your son a respect for hard work, perseverance, and our ability to practice things to get better? Now he thinks that there are ghosts that assist him to skateboard better?
He did that all by himself, he doesn’t need to believe in dead people that help him. Sometimes the thought that an invisible friend is helping us out is a temporary boost, but it is a long term weakness, because it is about denying where our ACTUAL strength comes from. Ourselves.
I gotta tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole conversation today. But I am sorry this all upsets you so. As far as arrogance, well if you knew me you would know I am the least arrogant person around.
As far as my claims, I haven’t said anything that I haven’t truly done. My clients are the ones that speak on my behalf. Read what they have to say, their words. All I know is I receive the information they are looking for and pass it on.
Speaking of imaginary friends helping us. Why not, don’t you believe in Angels. They help me all the time but I cannot see them. Are they imaginary to?
Let me ask you this, where do you think our energy goes once we leave this earth. Do you believe that we just dissipate into nothing.
As for your challenge. I have been asked this before. I believe that God and the Universe will provide that to me if that is meant to be. I think it would be cheating if I used my ability to win something. Even though there are times I would really like to I still leave that up to the higher source.
The fact remains that you have no idea what i have instilled in my son. He is a wonderful boy with a wonderful new ability that he is fully enjoying and if God saw fit to give us these gifts who’s to question that. Certainly not me.
I wish you many blessings in your endeavors and that your path is bright and wonderful. Blessings to you.
Kandace
There is a difference between affability and arrogance. You may be warm and loving and generally a nice person. But saying that you have magical abilities, that you have some special powers of divination and connection to a supernatural world, and that people who don’t believe you simply can’t comprehend the mysteries you command strikes me as the height of arrogance.
Uhh, yeah, actually, they are. As well as unicorns, leprechauns, fairies, elves, little gray aliens, ghosts, etc etc. You know what they all have in common? Zero Evidence. I mean, surely some of these things you don’t believe in, right? The 1000 gods of Hinduism, Zeus, the flying Spaghetti monster, I mean something MUST sound ridiculous to you right? Find that thing that you find the least plausible, the least coherent, the most batshit, and I will show you ten people who fervently believe in it, at the same time disbelieving your God and your abilities, and being as passionate and sincere about it as you, and having at least as many adherents willing to give testimony to the fact that it has changed them for the better.
Thats why your offer of client testimonials is ridiculous. All I have to do is watch some late night television to hear some heartfelt testimonials of people who made their **** bigger with some herbal pill, got their hair to grow back with some silly oil, got their floor miraculously cleaned with a new patented cleaning product, how they made a million dollars in real estate with no money down, or guess what, how they can talk to the dead.
They all have three things in common. 1)They pander to our desires for wish fulfillment, 2) they only cost 49.95 and 3) they don’t work.
yeah, pretty much ( by leave this earth I assume you mean die). The only thing we leave behind are the impressions we made on people who remain after us which naturally fades over time (and I guess large monoliths constructed in our name, if we are lucky to be kings etc). In terms of where our energy goes, I don’t think you actually know what the term energy means, so I’ll leave it at that.
That may strike you as a sad view, but to me it means live this life to the fullest, because it’s all you got. And even if it depressed me, I wouldn’t delude myself into creating a fantasy to make myself feel better about it.
hmm, but you don’t mind charging people $90/hour for using your gift for life coaching, huh? Or $75/Hour for ‘cleansing’? Maybe you should donate that gift you claim to have? If you say you need to do that to earn some living so you can go on helping people, wouldn’t that million dollars enable you to help even more people? Don’t you feel bad for denying all the people you could potentially help with this miracle of yours if you don’t win this prize? You could potentially revolutionize the world, no? You could convince all the skeptics, including the king of skeptics, James Randi. Hell, you could donate the million to charity. Or you could refuse the prize.
Why do you consider it cheating? It’s not like guessing cards to win at poker. The prize’s entire goal is to find someone with powers like yours and reward them for an authentic display.
Or maybe, just maybe, you just don’t have special powers.
Whereas I’m quite sure there is nothing I could possibly say that would cause you to reconsider some of your assumptions about the way the world works, or the way human psychology works, there actually is something quite simple that you can do to convince me. Just show some evidence that you can do what you say in a controlled setting with neutral observers. That wouldn’t just convince me, I think you could convince the world!

Looking forward to seeing the proof,
Thad
Speaking from my own experience, I have this to say.
I am a 40 year old, educated professional. I called Kandace and listened in on her Thursday night conference call. I chose to participate in the conversation. I found Kandace to be a delight to speak with and asked for a single phone call with her the next day.
We spoke, I remained open and I found what she said to be right on the money with what was going on in my life. I put her through my own test and I wouldn’t say that “she passed’, but rather that she knew more about me and what was going on in my life than anyone could possibly know from over 3000 miles away.
I made an educated decision based on my actual experience with her, not on what she said she could do or what I knew was possible or not possible.
I made the decision for myself based on my experience.
I call Kandace a friend and I’m glad she came into my life. I have gotten great value out of our conversations.
You’re educated, that’s fine. I guarantee your education in whatever professional area you chose did not teach you to perform cold reading. That means it has nothing to do with whether you get suckered by a cold reader or not.
If cold reading didn’t work, there’d be a lot fewer cold readers out there. This woman is either a fraud or a nut. The difference is usually apparent when otherwise reasonable, intelligent, educated people meet the subject. If she fooled you, she’s probably a fraud. The nuts usually don’t fool anyone.
Call me a fraud, a nut whatever you like. They said the same things about Einstein, Newton, Christopher Columbus, The Wright Brothers, Benjamin Franklin, Silvia Brown, John Edwards, and I could go on and on.
Personally, I am happy to be in such good company.
Blessings!
Kandace
Right. You’re in the company of Einstein and Newton. Sure.
Sylvia Browne and John Edward, on the other hand, have both been proven to be frauds. Both have failed over and over to predict anything or provide meaningful information that even suggests that they actually communicate with the dead. It’s THEIR company in which you’ve placed yourself.
By your logic, you’re “in the company” of The Unabomber and Klutzo the Klown. Since those two are nuts and frauds, “they” said they were nuts and frauds, too.
Having people describe your behavior does not make you a persecuted genius.
To make things a little less personal, the difference between Einstein/Newton and Brown/Edward is that Einstein and Newton’s ideas worked. They explained actual observed phenomena and real data. Then they were tested scientifically for a LONG time, and they explained most things. However, NEITHER man’s ideas have stood up completely in every area, and where they contradicted actual observed reality, they’ve been modified or abandoned altogether. If you could manage a thousandth of that, you’d have a million dollars of James Randi’s foundation money by now and he’d be out of business. Browne and Edwards make no attempt to test their “ideas” in any way, and I’m betting you haven’t either.
Prove me wrong if you can.
Einstein and Newton tested their ideas, then had them rigorously tested by thousands of physicists and mathemeticians all over the world.
The Wright brothers built their flying machine and tried to fly it. The reason we know their names now is that it flew.
Columbus sailed the ships. We’ve heard of him because, wrong though he was about the land he found, he did find it. In doing so, he proved his own theory totally dead wrong.
You, on the other hand, make fantastic claims and offer no evidence at all. Truly you belong in the company of John Edward and Sylvia Browne.
I feel that everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. From what I read above I simply pity the poor souls who are hindered by society on “who’s – who” and have no direction. It is after all fear that affects people in distinguishing what magical powers are actually amongst us.
It’s not worth it to let a grain in sand ruin your entire beautiful beach experience. Don’t let them ruffle your feathers, sweet Kandace… you know who you are and a true GEM to all of us, who have in fact had a genuine and TRUE “life altering” experiences with you. You have helped me during our conversation tremendously… You have pin pointed situations that have happened in the past and which you could have possibly not known of unless you were there. I rarely share with stranger’s personal things yet I immediately felt a connection with you. You see and feel from within the person, and those gifts are usually passed down to our younglings in some way, shape or form. Thank you for sharing this blog and all your others from which we are privileged to learn from.
My experience with you makes me a believer of your genuine and superior gifts – even if I never experience another moment with anyone, like the one we’ve shared. It really doesn’t matter who believes and who doesn’t. Some are just not ready to see and fear has a lot to do with it. Go in peace about your days and keep embracing your gifts daily. You make a difference to those who seek your guidance and focus on that. You have a huge purpose on this plain of existence. Much love and HUGS~ Janette
I would like to put my 2 cents in here. First I know Kandace personally and professionally. I know Kandace to be a very gifted and honest person. I don’t believe she is out to deceive anyone. I have no doubt Kandace and her son experienced something that many people do not understand. What might be true for her and the people that seek her out may not be true for others. This is a blog to share information and experiences. Take away with you what feels good and leave the rest, simple as that.
Namaste,
Deliese
Wow thare is alot of concern for whatis right and what t beilive etc. I find this interesting as I have used Kandce in the past. Sure in the begining I was just like some of you~ with doubt. BUt let me tell yo that she did speak to my brother and she descibed my brother perfectly! Not only did she descibe my brother but she the used the same language I use to descirbe my brother! Which again was very unique to me and me alone. My brother has been gone 13 years now not to mentio I live in a anoter state where no one at my home pr even in my house even new I had a brother let alone the way in which she descibed him. If you have never first hand experianced the gift that Kandace has than how just how could you be so damn sure that she has not done the exact things that she said she has? Just food for thought. Honestly you people don’t know what your missing!! Ronda
I have had the opportunity to speak with Kandace on two separate occasions. I of course had some doubts but based on my own experiences and the things we spoke about made all those doubts disipate.
I am certain that she is completely real and far from fake. I’ve sat at the table and had someone play with a piece of jewelry while taking in the surroudings and the people with me and totaly b-sing their way through the reading. But Kandace lives in another country. This was a phone call with very little detail given and yet described people and situations that she couldn’t possibly know about.
As far as her ‘infecting’ her son with mental illness….I disagree. I think the world ‘beats’ it out of our children to be able to ‘see’ the things that we have been educated to chalk up as imagination. I can’t imagine Kandace forcing this gift on her son for the sole purpose of him becoming a better skateboarder. Good grief!
So…that’s my two cents worth and I look forward to my path crossing with Kandace’s again soon.
Great discussion with views from both sides
lets leave it at this then
whether you believe or not, if you get value from the experience and the price is right for each individual, then so be it.
to each their own.
Be Well
People fear that which they don’t know. I am assuming this person doesn’t believe in God because he cannot see him? This person is evidently on one plane only and cannot open his mind or spirit into believing other than that which we see. And that is okay…it it his belief (however sad for him). I have personally experienced angels and have had wonderful readings with Kandace where she knew things nobody else knew. Just remember some people need to learn to grow more than others…
Everyone is certainly entitled to his opinion.
That has nothing to do with whether that opinion makes any sense, nor are you entitled to have anyone believe in your opinion. State your opinion as a fact, and people will ask you to provide some evidence that it’s true.
The fact that everyone is entitled to their opinions is precisely the reason that opinion means so little in the real world. You can have any opinion you want, regardless of how silly it may be, but if you can’t substantiate your opinion with facts, it doesn’t mean much.
I’m “on one plane only.” Hmm. Tell me what that actually means, and I’ll tell you whether I think it’s true. It’s a null statement until you give it some context.
Here’s an idea: why don’t you define the word “plane” for us?
In metaphysics a plane, other than the physical plane, is conceived as a subtle state of consciousness that transcends the known physical universe. So you sir would be one of the people who thought the world was flat. Without people who believed otherwise we would never have found out that the world was indeed round. Sometimes you have to open your mind to that which you cannot see…it can open a world of possibilities and you are indeed entitled to you opinion but allow others to have theirs.
i just wanted to add that kandace did a reading for me a few weeks ago and despite strong skepticism, she was able to tell me things she would have absolutely no way of knowing. as much as i would like to close my mind to the possiblity of communicating with spirits and other psychic phenomenon (because it’s scary and unknown), the specific details provided by kandace do not alllow me that luxury. peace to you, kandace.
I would just like to say that I am a good friend of Kandace’s and I love here dearly. She is a wonderful person, and you should never pass judgment on someone you know nothing about, weather you believe in her beliefs or not. Kandace has helped me day in and day out she is a remarkable person, and is blessed in so many ways. I would just really like to see all the negativity go away…. This negative energy you are sending out isn’t helping anyone and if you ask me it is just plane rude. If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all… Didn’t your mother teach you any manners???
yeah Don, how can you argue with logic like that?!
😉
I agree whole-heartedly. Pinky, my unicorn companion does too. the negative energy was shooting out of my screen. But it’s better now, because I put tinfoil in the windows and turned the contrast on the monitor way down to interfere with the negative presences. the only problm s tha its rely hrd to see the scrren now to typ.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who jumped on today. I hope it was enlightening for all. I hope that everyone takes with it what they will and enjoys the rest of there evening.
Many Blessings to everyone!
Kandace
I would like to take some time to respond to this what seems like a debate – There is nothing to prove to anyone here. Everyone has free will to believe what they believe. That doesn’t mean you have the right to judge or put down someone for what they believe and KNOW is true for them (and many others – I being one of them) As far as Thad’s comments – it seems that you are someone who needs proof, and that’s perfectly fine as you are entitled to that – There are things that can’t be proven however just because something can’t be proven doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Have you ever researched (and I mean completely researched) psychic or any type of phenomenon? I don’t believe you have based on your comments.
I have dealt with pshychic phenomenon all my life (although I’m not a psychic), I DEFINATELY believe in life on the other side. And yep! I’ve seen dead people – even when I was a little girl!! I met Kandace and she was the first psychic I had ever had a reading from (and this was all done over the phone thousands of miles away). It’s amazing that a person you’ve never met in your life (or should I say at least in this life time – yes I believe in past lives) that knows about people that have crossed over but yet she knows nothing about me or them. She knows names, what they look like (or excuse me, what they looked like when they were living), she knows about upcoming events and things that are happening in your life that there is no way in hell (which btw doesn’t exist) she could know. She is an amazingly gifted woman who has incredible compassion AND high morals. We have gotten to know each other and I’ve had 3 readings from her and every penny was WELL WORTH IT. WHICH btw The special offer for the reading was $20 for 20 minutes and we spoke for well over an hour and she didn’t ask for a penny more.
Just as you may have a job and get paid for what you are skilled in, she must get paid as well. It’s ABSOLUTELY no different.
My comment here is not to get you to believe – if you choose not to do your research (and I mean really search and read books) – you have nothing to base your comments on except your opinion. And in MY OPINION, just as people are ignorant about different races and religious beliefs, you fit right in with that category.
As the saying goes, “Don’t knock it until you try it” – The proof is in the pudding, so dig deep. There’s ALWAYS 2 sides to EVERYTHING!
You might want to start reading James Van Praugh – Talking to Heaven.
May you find YOUR LIGHT and TRUTH,
Chris
What could you possibly have gleamed about my research background from my comments that would lead to that conclusion? Just because I think it’s all crap?
As a matter fact, yes I’ve spent my entire life studying actual phenomenon. The field is called physics in case you’re not familiar with it. It has a really cool thing called the scientific method and has produced actual knowledge and actual results that have actually contributed to our knowledge and capabilities in this world. And many people have used science to research paranormal claims and found 2 things, jack and squat.
And yes, I’ve spent a lot of time investigating claimed paranormal effects, psychic abilities, personal psychology, and history. Whereas science has a wonderful history of contributions and a builtin way to falsify incorrect theories, all you will find throughout history is the same tired old claims with zero actual evidence.
Despite that, there has always been, and sadly will probably always be, a not insignificant portion of the population that is still attracted to baseless claims simply from a sentimental predisposition. It is exceptionally easy to convince most people of the supernatural with simple parlor tricks and charlatans have been doing it for our entire recorded history. I’m not saying Kandace is a charlatan, because I’m sure many psychic people really believe they can do it. All I know is that she can’t talk to dead people, because it’s not possible, despite millenia of people wishing and trying. Just like it’s safe to say the earth is round, it is safe to say that ghosts don’t exist.
I have read all these supposed psychics, including James Van Praugh, John Edward, Uri Gellar etc. John Edward has actually been caught cheating, editing out bad reads, having aides collect familial info before the shows, claiming to have gotten from spirits things that were told to him directly by the person in a previous taping. All the prominent ‘mediums’ have been caught like this. Just search youtube.
The technique is simple and old. It is called Cold Reading as Don mentioned, and it is easy to learn. Check out a book by Randi, or Derren Brown, or Pen and Teller and see just how easy it is to convince people of almost anything, with nothing but tricks.
The scams have been going on for a long time, and so have the debunkers. Read a book by Houdini, as he was working to expose mentalists in his day too. Do you even know where the modern idea of spirit mediums comes from in our country? Or how the spirit mediums the Davenport Brothers were one of the first to be exposed publicly?
Derren Brown is quite popular now. Here are some clips of him:

These effects have been shown in psychology studies over and over again. Here is a good summary of effects You can give a class room of students horoscopes and tell them that they were each given a special reading, and ask them to rate how accurate the results are. On a scale of 1 to 5, students usually rate around 4.25. They then reveal that everyone got THE EXACT SAME HOROSCOPE! The effect is called the Forer Effect and is well documented and repeatable.
When I was a little boy, my grandmother did me a great service ( and no, it wasn’t teaching me to talk to dead people ). She gave me a book called ‘Chariot’s of the Gods’. It was quite popular at the time, and was one of the hotter ‘paranormal’ movements of the time. It was essentially the beginning of the ‘Ancient Astronauts’ craze which waxes and wanes over time. I was hooked. I was into science fiction etc and the premise of the book, that aliens built the pyramids and that noah was following Alien instructions thoroughly convinced me (by appealing to my interests in science and science fiction).
I talked to my Grandmother excitedly about it. She just smiled and handed me another book and said read this one now. It was ‘Crash Go the Chariots’. It systematically and thoroughly DESTROYED all of the other book’s arguments. It wasn’t a fair fight, it was like hulk hogan vs. strawberry shortcake.
I learned a few things. 1) it is easy to make a convincing argument in a vacuum of knowledge if you stick to certain human prejudices, 2) the power of rational thought easily triumphs superstition, 3) regardless of the strength of the argument, many people just do not have enough experience in critical thinking to avoid fallacies.
Here is a good technique you can try. Take something that has a controversy. I’ll use the moon landing hoax, as I assume (hope) readers here know that, yes, we did actually go to the moon. Read a pro-hoax site, or several ( it won’t make a difference, they all say the same thing)
Chances are, they will make some good points. They might start to make you wonder, heck, you might even be convinced.
Now google ‘moon hoax debunk’. Read a few of those sites. You will see the following:
the pro-hoax sites don’t actually offer a coherent theory, just apparent inconsistencies with the ‘official’ story, but each of those inconsistencies are actually not consistent with each other.
the anti-hoax site will actually address each raised issue one by one and give answers that you can independently verify. There is a consistent theory, ie, that yes, we went to the moon.
now go back to to searching the pro hoax sites. Look for responses to the points brought up on the anti-hoax sites. Clue: you won’t find any, just the same tired arguments that were debunked 20 years ago.
Example:
pro-hoax: the flag on the moon is flapping in the wind, but it shouldn’t, there’s no air on the moon
anti-hoax response: it’s not flapping, it is slightly folded. There is a rod in the top of the flag so it would be more photogenic. You can go and examine the flags they used in a museum. There is audio tape from the astronauts about how they had trouble extending the telescopic rod, etc etc. There are pictures of them erecting it and trying to get it smooth while it hangs in the atmoshere free moon climate
anti-hoax response to the response: Just repeat the claim, ignore that it has been answered 30 years ago.
winner: we went to the moon.
Using this technique, it is quite easy to filter bs. ( there are other techniques you will need too, though)
I’d ask you to dig if by this point I thought you could hold a shovel.
Seriously, that is the most ridiculous thing that has been said in this entire thread. It’s actually that attitude that is destroying this country, because actually, no, there are not two sides to everything. Some things we actually do know quite a bit a about, and pretending that we have to extend credibility to every crackpot theory ‘to be fair’ is silly.
What about scientology? Do you believe their silly idea about Xenu and disembodied thetan alien soles and all the other crap?
What about the huge number of people who believe that we are all ruled by chameleon Lizard People
Still think there are two sides, or are some people just batsh*t?
Kandace, you haven’t responded to my reasonable argument to you to take the James Randi challenge. Don’t you think it would be so easy to clear all this up? You could donate the award to charity or use it to help enlighten so many more people, or just provide for your family if you wish.
All the people here who have chimed in support of your gifts: Don’t you think it would be so easy for her to make an objective demonstration of her gift? She was able to convince you so thoroughly, it would be trivial no?
Thad
I have been following this thread and comments from the start. I want to say that I have used Kandace’s services and consider her a friend. She has amazing insights into situations where I can’t see clearly because I am too close to the situation.
As far as proof, it is like asking for proof that God exists. How do you prove that. There is a line in L.A. Story that says “There are more things in heaven and earth, Harry, than are dreamt of N your philosophy”
Hugs
Doni
Actually it’s not. She is making specific claims about specific abilities, and we should be able to test them, right? I think you’ll find that when you press her, her abilities will suddenly become more and more general, and more and more vague until she arrives at something that indeed cannot be tested, and also just happens to be useless.
Seriously, PLEASE just go and watch one youtube video of someone doing a cold reading to see how it is done and how easy it is to fool people.
James Randi trained an average person he picked at random to do cold readings, and was able to fool an audience. In fact one gentlemen insisted that the medium picked out the name of his brother with no prompting or prior information. Randi asked, are you sure he didn’t mention many names, and you helped him select the ‘right’ one. The gentlemen insisted that no, it was spot on. He was then shown the video tape and written transcript showing that in fact the medium guessed like 19 names before getting one right.
When we want to, we only remember hits and not misses.
EVEN AFTER that, and the medium admitting it was all fake, the person STILL INSISTED that it was a magical experience and SOMETHING had happened.
Or are you just saying she makes you feel good and gives you good advice? Or helps you see things from a different perspective? Because either of those things can be done without supernatural powers, right? Millions of therapists and counselors and just plain loving friends help us do that every day, yet they make no claim to the supernatural. I’m not being particularly friendly at the moment, but I can be and I don’t need an angel to help. If the testimonials here are true, I’ll bet Kandace is very kind, lovable, calming and empathic. But not magical. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she thinks she can actually do what she says, and is not intentionally fooling people.
You know that’s from Hamlet, right? I mean, I love that movie, but you realize that they were making Shakespeare jokes throughout the film I hope. Plus, although it sounds nice, it’s actually a kind of copout. It just denies our ability to reason and investigate things.
Actually, that’s not the case at all.
I don’t press her at all, she does all the talking, she comes up with the insights without any further input from me. She’s “intuitive” thad. It’s that simple.
the more I talk with her, the more she stops me with insight that leads to other things that not only can she not know about me, or my cats for instance.
The deal here is that each of her clients have proved to themselves that what she’s intuitive about is right on the money.
Thad, have you ever heard the phone ring and know who it is? How would you describe that? Intuition? lucky guess? Random thought that popped into your head?
Kandace does not need to prove anything to me any longer. I did my “proof” session the first day. I told her nothing about me or my cats and she did all the talking. Now when I talk to her, she senses some things, speaks them and then I know if she’s on the money or not. Then I take her advice and see how it goes. One good example was with my cats. She explained why one of my cats was doing something. I made some changes and the issue resolved itself. I got results and that was that.
I too have seen the episodes of Chris Angel’s Mind Freak where he does his little game on a bunch of people using the Tarot cards. Anything can be general enough that we then interpret how we want.
In my experience (that’s my experience), Kandace tells me things about myself and that are going on with me that nobody knows about.
So going back to the example about being intuitive, knowing who’s calling before you pick it up. If you’ve ever had that experience, even a little, would it be fair to say that someone else simply had that same ability but turned up a bit?
That’s how I would describe Kandace. She’s just extra sensitive to that “frequency” as it were and then verbalizes it.
I’d just like to finish this with one more question. Being so passionate about protecting people from frauds and fakes, why do you not use your real name? I have not disclosed your name, nor will I because I honor your desire to use “thad” as your pen name. Why?
I don’t think you understood me. I wasn’t saying that during a ‘reading’ she gets more general. That’s not the way it works. You would expect her to get closer to the target and more and more specific precisely because you are unconsciously giving her validation, like a mental marco polo game. As the reading develops it will get more and more specific.
What I was saying was that if you asked her what her abilities were, what the gifts are, she would start by saying how she can talk to dead people and angels and a whole host of powers. When you start to press her on what capabilities this gives her, ie what she can do with that, she will backtrack as see senses that it is a test she might fail. She will claim it doesn’t work like that, or it’s not a perfect science, or she can only give out what the spirits tell her. The claimed power’s scope will continue to get smaller and smaller and more and more vague until they are reduced to mere ‘intuition’, which every one has to one degree or another, and to which couldn’t be tested. This is what happens with applicants to the Randi challenge. They start off with claims of great powers, but as they work with the foundation on creating a test, the claims get more and more vague and less and less grandiose, until in the end they essentilally claim they cannot do anything or they just back out of the testing.
I’ll say this again: I don’t doubt that she’s intuitive and great at being sympathetic, and she may even be wise in terms of giving advice, but that doesn’t equal talking to angels and cleansing spirits from a house.
Just look back over this thread and see how even you, rob, in your language, have backed down from supernatural claims and have now just said that she is simply ‘intuitive’. Ok, agreed, she’s a great listener and good coach. She has no powers though.
As far as the phone ringing stuff, I used to think I was really good at guessing who the ringing phone was. Then I actually tested it. Here’s what I found:
1) I was actually quite a bit worse than I thought was ( but still pretty good). It turns out it felt good when I was right, and when I was wrong I paid little attention to it, inflating my sense of accuracy
2) There is actually a small set of people that call me frequently, so it’s easy to be right quite a few times
3) my wife calls me more than anyone, and it just so happens that is the person I guessed most too.
4) certain people have a habit at calling at similar times, so without knowing it, I had figured out that pattern. That’s what humans do in general by the way, look for patterns. We are fantastic at it, no angels needed.
5) The next most frequent caller was my father, which I noticed I usually guessed when I happened to be with my wife., since she would not be a candidate.
I think if I programmed a computer to do the above, it would be right just as much as me. Would it be super intuitive?
The general topic of how we are so intuitive is fascinating, but it is made dull if you assume it is spirits doing it, or angels helping out, or whispers from God, because it denies actual research that could teach us something useful and amazing about ourselves and how we analyse our environment.
Really, we are just animals extremely good at reading our physical environment and discovering patterns. We watch body language, skin color changes, eye movement, we listen to voice inflexion, speech pace, word choice, stutters, Freudian slips, vocal stress indicators, and more.
As far as knowing what is going on inside people that only they know, the truth is that we are all in a really basic sense, the same. Almost universally, we have the same fears, worries, problems, hopes dreams.
yes, but in the same way that a star runner is faster than me, or a weightlifter stronger than me. They have improved human faculties, both by born talent and intense training, not superhuman ones.
I will give you that she may be talented, but I see no reason to define a supernatural ‘frequency’ concept to describe it.
it’s just an online psuedonym I’ve had for a long time, but I typically use it when posting about politics, paranormal claims and religion. That’s because I host other websites on those topics and post under thad on those sites, so if I link back to here it will be clear to my readers who is posting. I post as Thad on those other websites because, in this country anyway, people who question religion and spirituality, or majority political powers are discriminated against. I started blogging as Thad in 2002 when I starting writing against the upcoming war in Iraq and got a not-so-subtle hint from my employer that it would get me fired for speaking against the war. Since then I blog as Thad generally on things like that, including religion.
It varies by company of course, but I have had experiences where employees are subtly discriminated against if they decline to attend the company sponsored Sunday breakfast mass, and posting on the internet my feelings that religion is a bunch of hogwash doesn’t improve my chances of keeping my job. (it wouldn’t be hard to figure out who I was if someone were so inclined and obviously, I can’t hide from site owners )
Although it may seem like it, I’m not a crusader out to protect victims of fraud. People are free to do what they like. As I said before though, I do get very active if it is an issue that may get codified into or reprented by law, or it is something that affects young people.
A friend of mine is very religious. I get along with him pretty well despite that, and he is generally a pretty good guy. We have children near the same age. My first son’s first word was ‘agua’ ( he’s bilingual ). His son’s first word was ‘amen’. They inundate their child in religious messages. Daycare is at a church, all his books are from religious presses. All his videos are religious in nature. I think that is very unfortunate since the boy obviously has not developed the faculties to make any decisions yet or know truth from fiction.
We all fill our children’s heads with a certain amount of nonsense, like santa clause and the tooth fairy. But we don’t take it seriously. When the time comes we will say the tooth fairy doesn’t exist. It may shock them at first, but they will acclimate, since no one really believes in the TF.
For religion, when he comes of age to think for himself, how much harder will it be for him to FREELY choose what to believe about God, after years of brainwashing and a public at large that mostly believes in God?
To all the people that say they were helped by Kandace: YOU made those changes happen. YOU made those strides. YOU healed yourself. Be proud of YOU. Think how much farther you can go knowing that YOU have that power. Not power to hear angels, power to understand and change yourself. Sometimes we don’t want to acknowledge that WE did something positive, because then if we fail, we only have ourselves to blame. It’s EASIER to think spirits and psychics help us, because then if we can’t do something, it is the spirit who didn’t want it. Not us.
To the psychic helpers out there: YOU made those readings. YOU have the intuition. YOU have the ability to help people. YOU have the ability to listen to what people mean and not what people say. Angels didn’t help you. YOU did it. In the same way some people are born naturally able to play a good game of chess, some people are born and are sensitive to the millions of cues people give off every second, verbal or non-verbal. It is the miracle of human communication that is grounded in this physical reality, not a special frequency, or an alternate plane We can experience it, we can learn from it, we can master it. We can prove it. It is not magic. You may have mastered it already. That’s a testament to your HUMAN abilities. Not an angels helping hand.
Thad,
I think you like to hear yourself speak. Kandace does not have to prove her self to anyone.
And, yes, I do know that the movie L.A. Story is full of Shakespear quotes and scenes.
Anyone can “prove” anything and either side of any issue.
I choose to believe in Kandace and her abilities. Simple. Obviously you do not. Enough said.
Doni
Thad, first, I think that based on the last comment you made, Donielle’s might seem out of context, but she’s replying to an old comment you made.
I believe that this last comment by you is the most from the heart one you have made (that’s my take).
I couldn’t agree more about religion and I know that Kandace does as well.
Lets finish this up here. Your comment is right on the money. I think that everyone would agree that it’s US who makes the change. I think Kandace and all her clients would agree as well.
Thanks for clearing up the Thad thing. I completely respect that.
No, she doesn’t–unless she wants rational people to believe what she has to say. It’s a two-way street. She doesn’t have to prove anything to me, or to Thad, or to you, but if she makes assertions, especially assertions that contradict all known evidence, then we have the right to ask her to back those assertions up. We aren’t obligated to believe her.
Excellent. Now, please give us your reasoning: why? What evidence convinced you that kandace can talk to dead people?
This is NOT just a matter of everyone’s personal opinion being equal. Kandace makes claims like this one:
. . . and this . . . .
. . . . and this one, too:
In other words, either it’s all true, or she’s a scam artist cheating people out of hard-earned money by pretending to be something she’s not. There’s no happy middle ground here, no “to each his own.” Fraud is not an opinion and nobody is entitled to it. Kandace wants to take peoples’ time and money in exchange for providing a service in which she would be the first person known in history who wasn’t faking the entire routine. People have a right to question that!
Your son really sees dead people? i was on the other blog for the greywater and I noticed this blog. is he like supernatural
My son is getting used to it but yes he can. He says he likes it and that it’s cool! No he is not supernatural, but he is finding out about his psychic nature. Thanks for asking!
Blessings to you!
Kandace
Thats cool. have you ever seen the show a haunting????
Attempting to “talk” with the dead is demonic activity, and the people who participate in such things are confused and deluded. They just don’t know it.
God is very real, so is Satan. Angels are very real, and so are demons. But there are people who are very attracted to the supernatural and the occult – they’re fascinated by it, and so they seek information on these things without first consulting God and His Word to get true perspective on it all. God tells everyone to seek Him, but to stay away from and have nothing to do with the occult (which is what talking to the dead is). Instead, people will go down to a local bookstore or search online to gather information on all manner of occult activity and dive in head first without any understanding, simply because they’re fascinated by it. I understand the fascination, because the powers and nature associated with the occult go beyond our human limitations in many ways, and humans are fascinated by power and things that are very different. But this is very dangerous, and because often times these things are not of this dimension, peoples’ lack of understanding is tremendous. They get themselves wrapped up into demonic activity deeper and deeper but don’t realize it. Then they entice others (even their own family) into it, and lead them astray, as well.
I have an uncle who dabbled in this (among other things); my girlfriend’s parents also were very deeply rooted in many new age, occult and satanic activities – activities which are all related. I also have knowledge of such things, and know it to be very deceptive, enticing (because of its nature, coupled with our natural human curiosity), and extremely dangerous.
God tells us not to dabble in such things, because it’s a detriment to our lives, and it’s not designed for us. We’re only meant to have relationship with Jesus Christ, who is God.
People get involved with demons by attempting to “talk with the dead”. Because of their interest in the occult, a seed is planted, and it grows into a tree, so to speak, which takes root into peoples’ lives as they continue pursuing what they shouldn’t. And people who get so wrapped up in all of this lose their lives, and who they are – who God designed them to be; they die (like everyone else), and lose their souls in the end, because those people don’t go to heaven, they go down into hell. Forever. Unless, they turn from it and turn to God.
You cannot talk to the dead. The dead have no access to the living, and vice versa – because that’s how God designed it. Those beings you think you’re talking with, are actually demons who have personal information and knowledge of those who have died. And they use this information to deceive many. And so you think you’re connecting with loved ones who have passed on, when you’re actually speaking with demonic spirits.
You don’t sense any danger often times, because these demons want to draw you into their lies and further into demonic activity to keep you distracted from seeking and ever knowing God. Because if they can achieve that, then they know you’ll go to hell, which is where they want you – in torment. This is their entire goal. And they know they can’t accomplish that, if you sense danger because you’ll run away from them and what they’re trying to do to you. So they entice you by telling you (or in some cases, showing you) what you want to hear (or see). They keep you charmed and spellbound and fascinated so your focus and interest is on anything other than God. This is how it works. After time, you lose yourself, and at some point, your heart may be hardened to a point that it becomes impossible for you to hear or ever accept God, which is incredibly frightening, because people who reach that point are truly lost and will spend all of eternity in hell after they die, in torment and despair, apart from God, with no hope or opportunity of escape.
Everyone must understand, demons hate humans because they hate God, and humans represent God’s creation. They know they can’t harm or destroy God, so they will do anything to harm and destroy His creation (which means keeping people from knowing God, causing them to lose themselves and be sent to hell). And if they have to entice you to do so, then that’s what they’ll do.
John Edwards and Gloria Brown have both fallen prey to this and have led countless others astray. Don’t let yourself be fooled and led into this dangerous activity as they and others have been.
I know people can see strange things which can manifest before your very eyes if you’re rooted in this occult practice (and others) deeply enough, but it’s not a worthwhile trade because it means you’ve lost your soul and are on your way to hell. Anyone who dabbles in the occult falls prey to the same thing – even if you’re not deep into it.
Rather, instead of trying to seek those who have died and are no longer with us, it’s important that we seek God and His love, and relationship with Him. He offers true love, true wisdom, and true forgiveness and grace.
– God loves you: God says, “For God loved the world so much, that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
– Everyone is guilty of sin: God says, “For everyone has sinned. We all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 4:23).
– Sin is disobeying God’s law: God says, “Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God.” (1 John 3:4).
– Consulting the dead and other occult practices are against God’s law and therefore, constitute sin: God says, “I will also turn against those who commit spiritual prostitution by putting their trust in mediums or in those who consult the spirits of the dead.” (Leviticus 20:6); God also says, “Do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord.” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
– Sin leads to death and separation from God: God says, “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23); God also says, “It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, He has turned away and will not listen anymore.” (Isaiah 59:2).
– No one who is immoral will have access to heaven or God: God says, “You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God.” (Ephesians 5:5); God says, “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars – their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8).
– Apart from God we have no true wisdom: God says, “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.” (1 Corinthians 4:19).
– No one knows or honors God the Father unless they know and honor God the Son, Jesus Christ: God says, “Anyone who does not honor the Son, is certainly not honoring the Father who sent him.” (John 5:23); Jesus says, “If you trust me, your are trusting not only me, but also God who sent me.”; Jesus says, “Anyone who hates me also hates my Father.” (John 15:23); God says, “Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son, has the Father also.” (1 John 2:23). God says, “But anyone who remains in the teaching of Christ has a relationship with both the Father and the Son.” (2 John 1:9b).
– Jesus Christ is the only way to be saved from sin and death and to be united with God: Jesus says, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6); God also says, “For the wages of sin is death, but but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23); God says, “Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God.” (2 John 1:9a).
– You are united with God and saved from sin and death by believing and receiving Jesus Christ as Lord: God says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” (Romans 10:9,10).
– We are not saved by the works of our hands: God says, “God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 3:8,9).
– Jesus Christ was not just a man; He was, is, and always will be God: God says, “But the one and only Son is himself God and is near to the Father’s heart.” (John 1:18); Jesus says, “The Father and I are one.” (John 10:30).
– God never changes: God says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8).
Z, so you do not speak to God? If so, does she answer? And if she does, how do you know it is not a demon?
You follow a bible that was written by men 200 years after Jesus’s death. How do you know it was not written by demons and you aren’t even walking…you are running into there trap? The bible has been translated many a time…maybe it was translated by demons?
Right now you are probably saying, “Blasphemy!” Well, what you call blasphemy, I call thinking for myself. An unchallenged opinion is not worth having.
Very intriguing argument, Z – but it sounds judgmental…wait, isn’t that a sin?
Z, so my dad died 2 years ago and my mother last fall. If I talk to them, I’m going to hell? That kinda sucks. I’ll risk it.
The Bible has also been edited many many many many times, by men, since it was first written. It’s just a book.
I respect anyone’s faith, who they choose to follow, and what they choose to believe. I enjoy the diversity of people, race, faith, beliefs of people on this planet and I respect and honor their beliefs as I expect them to respect and honor mine.
We’re one planet with one people.
you know it happened to me before somebody said ella ella than I ran to my door it shut by itself so i wondered who called my name than im like alocer who is that?
