3 weight loss tips to help you improve your health, increase energy levels and have a good poo first thing in the morning. My buddy Dirk used to say “Rob – there’s nothing like a good crap first thing in the morning!” and I think most would agree.
I release 3 weight loss tips every Friday here on the blog (most weeks anyways) and I’m always on the lookout for a good tip. If you’ve got one that is healthy and natural, please leave a comment. I might use it in a future post.
3 Weight Loss Tips
Eat Breakfast
Eating breakfast increases your metabolism first thing in the morning as well as keeps the hunger gremlins at bay later in the day. If you skip breakfast, you’re more likely to be making up those calories with unhealthy choices later in the day.
Christina recently lost 5 pounds by simply making a few changes to her diet and eating the breakfast I recommended was one of them. You can read about her experiences with it on her post eat breakfast lose weight.
For members of the National Weight Control Registry, eating breakfast is part of their success strategy. These successful weight loss champions made it a daily habit to eat breakfast and have maintained a 30 pound or more weight loss for at least a year and as long as 6 years.
Breakfast is the fuel that starts you day. With it, you’ve got the energy you need to provide clear thinking, normalize blood sugar levels and keeps you on track with your food program for the rest of the day.
If you’re not eating breakfast and still procrastinating about doing exercise, breakfast may very well be the thing that gives you the energy to get mobile.
Increase Your Fiber
Fiber is nature’s weight loss power house. There are two types, soluble and insoluble. Soluble is the gummy type that can act like a sponge and is found in foods like oatmeal and beans. Insoluble fiber acts like a broom, sweeping out the debris and is found in things like vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
Soluble fiber can help lower cholesterol while insoluble fiber contains fibers that cannot be digested but add bulk to our meal.
Both fibers swell up in our stomach creating a feeling of fullness and being high in water and low in calories, are a perfect way to improve both digestive and colon health. High fiber foods are the best tools for anyone wanting to shed some pounds. All of the super foods contain fiber, so that list might be a good place to start.
(yes Canadians, I know it’s spelled fibre)
Drink Green Tea
Researchers say the results indicate that substances found in green tea known as catechins may trigger weight loss by stimulating the body to burn calories and decreasing body fat.
I’ve consumed green tea since I had my first experience with it back in 1991. I’ve had a cup or 3 of Sunrider Calli tea almost every day since and Fortune Delight makes up the rest of the fluids I consume after water. Green tea has become a part of my life and I drink it for all the benefits aside from any possible weight loss effects.
While I can’t vouch for any other brands or types of green tea, I have seen the research both confirming it’s effect on fat burning as well as documents showing little or no change.
My belief is simple, that I want to drink something hot, so it might as well be something that might even remotely benefit while being very safe. Again, that’s why I choose Sunrider brand Calli tea – but hey, that’s just me.

I would also like to comment that eating breakfast has helped control blood sugars for me. I also do not get as agitated as I might have in the past and am much more calmer. Eating breakfast is not only heathy for you but comes with a natural mood enhancer!
I enjoy Calli Tea as well. My favourite is the Cinnamon and the Calli night for the evening.
I’ve started a strange habit. I am putting curry powder on my eggs in the morning. Believe me, breakfast was a big change for me but for me to suddenly LOVE curry, spice and things that once caused me stomach troubles is an amazing thing!

Resveratrol Supplements can help you control your weight naturally
by increasing energy, reducing cravings, and limiting your appetite.
According to Wikipedia, Consumer Lab, an independent dietary
supplement and over the counter products evaluation organization,
published a report on 13 November 2007 on the popular resveratrol
supplements. The organization reported that there exists a wide range
in quality, dose, and price among the 13 resveratrol products
evaluated. The actual amount of resveratrol contained in the
different brands range from 2.2mg for Revatrol, which claimed to have
400mg of “Red Wine Grape Complex”, to 500mg for Biotivia.com Transmax,
which is consistent with the amount claimed on the product’s label.
Prices per 100mg of resveratrol ranged from less than $.30 for
products made by Biotivia.com, jarrow, and country life, to a high of
$45.27 for the Revatrol brand. None of the products tested were found
to have significant levels of heavy metals or other contaminants.
I neither recommend or endorse any weight loss supplements other than Sunrider foods (which are foods, not supplements anyway)
I am not familiar with resveratrol but will look into it.
I also, am quite against drugs or pharmaceuticals of any kind for thousands of reasons.
Instead of green tea stick with caffeine (tabs not coffee). Use about 200mg one hour prior to your workout.
Your metabolic rate is increased after caffeine intake and you can burn more calories.
The thing about green tea is that it gives the same results as caffeine tabs without the caffeine. The whole point of the green tea is to increase antioxidants and remove caffeine from the diet.
Yes, Caffeine does increase metabolism, but it’s also a powerful stimulant which can also affect heart health, disrupt sleep and cause the body to store it in fat cells as it’s not natural.
I’m on the fence about caffeine. Lets just say this:
Caffeine – Not Natural and a stimulant
Green Tea – Natural, high in antioxidants and NOT a stimulant

Three Suggestions
The first piece of suggestions deals with exercising. Always exercise on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Talk a walk on a treadmill or around the block a few times. Ten minutes will make a difference by burning stored energy ““ namely fat.
The second useful tip is not eating late night snacks. If you avoid snacking three hours before bedtime, you wont be storing fat, and you will be amazed at the results.
Tip number three suggests that if you are going to drink coffee, make it black. Fancy coffee flavored drinks with cream and sugar are loaded with calories, as opposed to zero in a good old cup of black coffee.
Thanks for the additions Carole
Coffee has been shown to increase blood glucose as much as 25% in a recent study.
8% on a empty stomach, and up to 25% after a meal.
Coffee is also very acidic, when the body wants to be a neutral pH.
Caffeine stresses the adrenals, gives false energy and leads to burnout and ill health. This is why I do not recommend coffee, and do recommend green tea.
Some interesting new research by a doctor has identified several species of parasites and a specific type of goopy plaque that if left in your bowels makes you fat, bloated, developing a pouch and spare-tire belly.
This is the cause of people’s obesity — fortunately, this research also reveals how to stop it. It further explains that the same cause of why people get fat is also the same reason why people eventually get sick and die prematurely — often cutting off years from their lives (not to mention the quality of their lives).
People who flush these parasites out, often report rapid weight losses up to 100 lbs or more — and without changing a single thing about their diets. Not that you need to lose anywhere near that amount… but it does prove how well it works.
Before breakfast drink a tumbler of water (Hot or cold) with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. Have at least another 2 glasses during the day. Apple cider vinegar is a great to aid weight loss, it acts as a natural appetite suppressant (take before meals) and helps reduce inches.
I drink about 4-5 glasses a day. It’s nothing like ordinary vinegar but if you’re not too keen on the taste you can always add a 1/2 spoonful of honey to it. Honey helps your energy levels. All good stuff! Remember an apple a day….?
I concur Sue. Apple Cider Vinegar plays a large role in my 12 Week course on better eating. We use it almost daily around here, but mostly in salad dressings and on steamed veggies
