The Expresso Fitness cardio bike from Expresso Fitness is a welcomed change to the world of cardio equipment. Morning cardio training is an important part of any weight loss program and having various options for various body types is quite critical in my opinion. Different strokes for different folks I always say and this Expresso Fitness cardio bike may be your reason to experience some change.
The Expresso cardio bike allows the rider to interact with other virtual riders on various trails within the screen in front of him or her. The handlebars on the bike move allowing the rider to steer around them and throughout the trail system. It’s fully interactive and comes with choice of music tracks and the setting of a pace rider to assist you in your goals.
The Expresso allows for over 30 interactive routes, trail or tracks, forests, deserts, coastlines and even Mayan ruins. The routes are offered in various lengths, both indoor and outdoor. Chose a 20 minute route that has two 10 minute loops or a 30 minute ride with 5 six minute laps. The lap times have to do with your fitness level of course, but this gives you and idea of what it might be like. The bike can be networked and allow for you to ride side by side against friends.
As the terrain changes on the track, the difficultly becomes either easier or more difficult all automatically.
A gear shifter located below the handlebars allows the rider to change gears as it were creating more resistance.
Settings on the screen show watts, speed, gear, your position on the track, the position of your pace rider and your total and current lap time.
In this screen shot, you can see one sample of the terrain “Alpine Splash” which quite clearly shows the changes in difficulty along the bottom. It begins with some rolling hills which then builds to a climactic uphill push followed by a downward race to the finish.
The Expresso Fitness cardio bike is also internet ready which allows you to create an online account on Expresso Fitness and then record your daily progress reports. You can set your own personal goals and know if you’re meeting them all electronically. A really cool feature is the ability to ride against a “ghost” image of your best time, thus truly competing against yourself. My gym does not have this feature set up as their IT staff have not yet recognized the power of wireless internet. If your club does, or if you purchase this piece for your home, then I’d love to hear back from you about your experience with the tracking system.
Benefits Of The Expresso Cardio Bike
- Interactive, allowing the rider to participate in the experience.
- Allows the rider to set goals at the onset and then follow the pace rider to meet that goal
- Networked, allowing the rider to record his or her times, track progress and challenge oneself each ride.
- Minimizes boredom for the exerciser
I really do not like biking, I really don’t (did I mention that?). I’m a climber and prefer the Cybex Arc trainer, however, this Expresso Fitness cardio bike has given me a new excitement for biking again. I can interact with the other riders, set goals for a lap time, push myself near the finish line and revel in the day that I set a new Personal Best (PB). When I’m done with my laps, I am truly dripping in sweat. When it comes to cross training and my need to move around to the other machines, the Expresso Fitness cardio bike is one of my new favorites.
This sounds like a great machine – I’d love to get one for the home gym. The ability to ride against your ‘ghost’ sounds particularly good.
Will check it out.
Yep, this thing has gotten my full attention as of late. I’ve NEVER been that winded after doing cardio, racing for the finish line going for a PB. I love it. Nice addition to my cardio cross training
thanks
I think my gym finally networked the Expresso cardio bikes. I’m registering for an ID at Expresso Fitness and will be testing it out. btw, I found a great new 25 minute loop the other day. My best time was 25.03 and then I beat it by 1 whole second the 2nd time I did the loop.
It’ll be nice to log in and track my stats that way for PB’s
Nice one. If you get a chance, a bit of video would be cool.

no shit AG, me too.
I’ve learned so much about this bike in the past two weeks that I want to do a follow up review.
Brilliant machine – and it’s kicking my ass in a good way.
If you get a chance, a bit of video would be cool
k, will consider it Su.
This bike has become my favorite cardio machine and until I began using it a few months ago, I HATED bikes.
This Expresso cardio bike kicks ass.
I’m considering a new membership at Golds Gym, a new one that just got built 5 mins from me, and my primary reasons for getting/not getting are the Expresso bike and my other fav, the ArcTrainer. If they’ve got them, I’m pretty much signed up
Love these bikes. I am also a fan of the Arc Trainer but curiosity got the best of me and now I am hooked on the Expresso bikes too. I love the competition not only with other riders but also with myself. Always looking to beat my best time!
Where are we now that the bikes have been around for a while. I know my clients love them but I have had two in my facility for a year, they have both been replaced once about a month after they got here and now again for the past two months have been down. The keyboard is locking.
I have 4 bikes 3 working. These bikes are great in theory but junk had many problems no wonder they went out of business the new company that took them over when I finally got to talk to someone hung up on me when I said I was upset that they would not cover the warranty. My opinion purchasing these bikes was a big mistake.
These machines are cool, but the quality is horrifically poor. Dealing with the new company Interactive Fitness Holdings is a nightmare. They charge outrageous prices for the replacements of parts. I do not recommend the purchase of these bikes to anyone. Technology is good but I have spent an additional $2,000 per bike since we bought these bikes 1.5 years ago. Please avoid the headache and do not purchase.
We have major problems with S2U and S2 units. PC’s died, no warranties and IFHoldings wants us to buy new computers. No trade in, no swaps! This is junk stuff!!

I bought a S2 unit after much reading, riding it. Reading reviews at that time. During the first 1 -1/2 years – constant repairs on the mechanics of the bike – at 1 -1/2 years the computer malfunctioned and will not continue the rides. I spent many months calling the new company – just asking if the software could be reloaded because I think it is just a glich in the software. No deal. Just wanted to give me $300.00 trade in when I paid almost $5,000. cash for it. Why would I buy the same product when the last one didn’t last. I have heard of the same thing happening at the same time to other expresso bikes. Like a shut off switch at 1.5 years.
