The Ultimate Perfect Pushup Review

I posted my perfect pushup review a few months back and it got a lot of attention, er…. , slammed by a bunch of guys on a martial arts forum. It caught me a bit off guard as they trashed the product and the review. Then as I watched their discussions, I found that other members agreed with me and had gotten results themselves and from spouses who used the perfect pushup and were able to reduce wrist and palm pain by their design.

Other comments on the post found that my perfect pushup review was spot on and I’ve yet to have any negative comments here on the blog.

The Ultimate Perfect Pushup Review

Then, just recently, I was contacted by Taylor, a young aspiring bodybuilder from the United States who has done what I’m calling the Ultimate Perfect Pushup Review. He’s been using the perfect pushup 21 day program that comes with the product and been getting some great results.

Taylor has posted his video results and his charts indicating his gains over the 21 days. Now he’s on to part 2 of his program and adding a bulking phase to gain some lean mass. It’s more than a review, it’s a real guy, doing the real work and posting his results.

Good luck Taylor, I fully support you.

The Navy Seals Perfect Pushup product is relatively inexpensive at $40 (the travel version is a bit more) and a great addition to your home gym. The device allows you to rotate through a range of motion different from regular pushups and thus hitting the pecs in a different way. I recommended them in my perfect pushup review and I recommend them now.

Navy Seals Perfect Pushup Review

Pushups have long been a staple of any body weight workout routine and the true measure of a man. Any physical fitness test done at schools or in bars by college students revolves around the amount done in a given time or overall amount done to failure. The pushup is also the staple of the Navy Seals and before even arriving at the Basic Underwater Demolition / Seal training, the candidate must pass a physical exam including pushups. What the seals learned from years of trial and error, was that basic bodybuilding routines and programs created worn out shoulders and other body parts. After extensive testing to determine why their seals were being injured, the end result was the Perfect Pushup.

The Perfect Pushup

The military realized that 73% of Navy Seals were on disability after 20 years of service (cite) so they spent an entire year researching why and found that it was the traditional weight training exercises that did the damage. They switched to functional training and the Perfect Pushup was invented.

perfect pushupThe Perfect Pushup is designed to rotate with your body as you put it through the pushup movement. The natural tendency of your shoulders and chest is to rotate, so the perfect pushup rotates with you as you do the movement. The result is less injuries and a better built body.

Benefits

  • Unique rotating handles allow your arms to rotate naturally during pushups
  • Engages more muscles, while reducing joint strain
  • Exercises based on U.S. Navy SEAL Two Min Drills

Its very simplistic in design, but rugged in construction, and the price is right at less than $40 – so there’s no reason not to invest in this fantastic fitness gadget. The Perfect Pushup is available from amazon. Includes a full color instructional poster that shows perfect form along with a customizable 21 day workout planner based in SEAL 2 minute drills that works for any fitness level – from beginner through Olympic athlete. A travel version will soon be available as well which folds flat to fit in your suitcase.

Heart Rate Monitor Review

It was my 30th (yes I said 30th) birthday and I was sitting on the couch opening my birthday gift from my husband.

The card said, “Wear this when you’re near me so I can see your heart race.”

Knowing my husband and how he knows me… I knew what was inside the package. It wasn’t diamonds or perfume or a box of chocolates. It was pink, made for a girl and something I could wear….

My very own, pink Women’s Polar F6 Heart Monitor. F6 Heart Monitor

Power Wheel Core Trainer Review

The Power Wheel is not to be confused with the abdominal wheel, but is still in the same category of abdominal exercise equipment. I have known about the Ab Wheel for years, but wanted something a bit more robust, better for outdoor workouts and which incorporates lower abdominal training as well. Enter the Power Wheel.

power wheel reviewSimilar in design to the good ‘ol Ab Wheel, the Power Wheel takes it a step farther by incorporating foot pads for lower body work and which then completes this core training device by allowing for many more types of workouts.

Lower Abdominal and Core

By attaching your feet to the pedals, and having them held in place with the tubing, you can take your training to the next level. Some very basic movements include v-tucks, bending at the waist moving into the pike position and then returning as in a reverse version of the traditional V Sit-up. Another option for lower abs is to do tucks by bringing your knees into your chest and then returning them. For fun, you might consider walking or running on your hands while staying in the plank position and see how far you can travel. Make a competition out of how many “steps” or the actual distance or time the event. I can see how this can build not only a powerful core, but also upper body, pec and delt work. For added difficulty, try climbing the side of a hill, running uphill on your hands.

Zack Even-Esh of Real Man Fitness is demonstrating a pike with the Power Wheel in the photo to the right. This is not an easy move and requires a lot of training and patience before getting it done correctly. My trainer has had me doing this movement using a stability ball for years, and now I have a way to do it outside with only one piece of equipment.

You can also flip over to your back and do reverse tucks bringing your feet up towards your ass while propping yourself up on your shoulder blades.

The wheel is much bigger which I find allows for outdoor workouts on open terrain, so that’s a great improvement that I really like.

Upper Abdominals Workout

Using the Power Wheel handles allows you to start on your knees and then extend out as far as you can and then return. More advanced users can actually begin on their feet and then lower down to the plank position before returning to full upright. This was seen being done in a video on the ab wheel review. It takes a great deal of training and core strength before getting to that place. Personally? I am still doing the knee workouts but week by week am getting stronger

Benefits

  • Big 14” tire good for indoor or outdoor workouts
  • Foot pedals for many more exercise possibilities
  • Velcro straps and tubing to keep feet in place
  • Rugged construction
  • Handles my weight at 240 pounds quite nicely
  • Voted the Best Core Trainer in the world

While they’ve incorporated the foot pedals into the product which adds for much more variety, in doing so they had to make the handles longer. I find that with my weight, the handles begin to bend when I’ve got my upper body weight bearing down on it. It’s pretty strong, but I would want it even stronger if I could get it improved a bit.

The Power Wheel Ab Trainer is available through Amazon for $47 and used for a little less. It’s a great addition to your fitness gear, really inexpensive, great for outdoor workouts and creates the ability to really hit your upper and lower abdominals as well as your entire core. The Power Wheel is an invaluable part of my core training.

Review of Women’s Running Shoes

I love fitness. And I enjoy shopping. So you can imagine how much I enjoyed shopping for new running shoes. Two of my favorites happily rolled into one.

Not to mention I had a great shopping experience. For anyone reading in the Central Ohio area, make sure the check out Front Runner on W. Lane Avenue for some superb customer service.

During my shopping trip I tried on several shoes, and most of the ones on my list of running shoes I researched. The only one I didn’t get to try was the Brooks Glycerin.

My final decision came down to two shoes: the Nike Air Max 180 and the Adidas Supernova.
