I was just talking with my friend, a personal trainer from Toronto and author of The Fit Bastard and The Fit Chic, Scott Tousignant, about his current goals of getting to 5% body fat.
I asked him what method he’s using to reach his goals and he replied “My Fit Bastard Workouts” and Jon Benson’s Every Other Day Diet. I caught him while he was making a tuna salad meal and asked him how the rest of his program looked and if he was on target to reach his goal. He’s three weeks out and 2% away from achieving it.
I realized that I’ve got my next 6 weeks of cardio and training planned and I’m following my own Reverse Caveman Diet on which Fat Loss Fundamentals is loosely based. I know what I’ll be eating for the next 6 weeks and I have it mapped out on my calendar.
It got me thinking about this poll, asking that very question - about how far ahead you plan your meals. Do you know what you’ll be eating for the day, or tomorrow? If I asked you what you’re having for lunch tomorrow, how would you answer? What about next week on Wednesday? is it a re-feed day? a low carb day? A meat day? a cleansing day?
I’d like to know how far ahead you plan your meals and what sort of reasons or results you get from the format you follow

As a side note, Scott and I were talking about the Fit Chic workout program and all it has to offer. It sounds like it’s quite the kick ass program for women wanting to get in shape. I’ll be doing a review of it soon. In the mean time, check out The Fit Chic women’s workout program.
As of today, the results of the last poll

I asked the question Do You Eat Breakfast ? back in October and of the people who voted, 79% said that they do. The benefits of eating breakfast are plenty and when Christina began the conscious effort to eat when she woke up, she found that she had more energy through the day, was more emotionally balanced and ate less in the evenings. She lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks of beginning the new practice and burned the phrase “eat breakfast and lose weight” into her brain.

Today I read DoshDosh’s question on twitter about liquid breakfasts which then got me thinking about what people choose as liquid breakfasts. I’ve done them all, coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, raw egg whites, protein shakes with EFA’s. In a few months I’ll be getting out my juicer and doing a bunch of green smoothies a la the Former Fat Guy but these days it’s a traditional breakfast along with Sunrider Nuplus, Quinary and Calli tea.
I know why people choose liquid breakfasts - convenience. My question today is

I’m sure there are a lot of other options for liquid breakfasts so if you’ve got one, pass it along. If it’s a green smoothie or home made protein shake recipe, leave it in the comments.
I’m officially taking up more interest in twitter now. Many experts agree that doing cardio first thing in the morning can burn fat 300% faster while others say that interval training with bodyweight exercises is as effective or more effective than cardio.
The never ending question of the best way to burn fat has proponents on both sides of the fence. Then there are those who think that to have the best health, one should do both cardio and weight training. Weight training to build muscle, strength and bone density and then cardio to improve heart and lung health.

When you shop at the grocery store, what sort of items do you buy? Do you stick to the outside edges where the fresh produce is or do you buy as much canned food or bulk items as possible? Where do you spend your money?
Lets play a little game by entering your thoughts in the comments. My intention is to have at least 100 people participate by leaving feedback.

I’m wondering if Weight Watchers actually works, if it teaches health or just portion control. Weight Watchers was my first experience with dieting and I went as early as grade 5. I was 175 pounds at the time and my mother thought that I shouldn’t be so heavy. She first took me to the doctor who told her that I would “grow into it” as I got older. She didn’t think that was the right answer and so we joined Weight Watchers together.
I barely remember the food program as my mom handled that part, but I did go to the weekly weight ins. I remember taking more and more pieces of clothing off each time we went in, and even began removing my keys, my wallet, my belt, shoes and socks to get that extra quarter pound.
I know little of Weight Watchers now, but I’ve heard that it’s mostly about portion control and little about health. I admit, I do not know their current program, so I want to ask the question. Does Weight Watchers work? are you currently following the program and are you getting results. More importantly, are you learning anything about health and nutrition, or just about portion control.

It’s my belief, and the basis of what I teach my clients, that a successful program should educate the user about health principles that they can take with them wherever they go. I believe that it’s more important to fully understand how digestion works, how to support the colon and manage blood sugar as well as making nutrient dense foods the primary focus of your meals.
So what about Weight Watchers? I know it teaches portion control, but what else? If you’re following the program, are you happy with the results and if you’re a former member of Weight Watchers, why? Did you lose weight and leave the program or get pissed off at them?
In the poll below, please choose any and all answers that apply to help myself and others understand. It may take a full 60 seconds for the answers to be recorded. Please bear with the server until the results are shown. Nothing is broken - just slow.
