Quick tip : Keep a workout diary

Regardless of what sort of exercise you do, keeping a workout diary can prove incredibly useful. Particularly after you’ve been working out for a year or more.

NotepadWhen I say ‘workout diary‘, I don’t necessarily mean anything fancy. A notebook and pen is really all you need. Just keep it handy whenever you set to work – whether that’s a quick set of sit-ups each morning or a lunchtime run around the park – and jot down what you did. In a few months or more you can glance back and say to yourself ‘Is that all I was doing then? I’ve come a long way in a few months‘.

It’s great motivation.

Stay tuned

The Human Body And Functional Muscle

[ Hmmmm, The video I had is no longer available, will have to find another one ]

Last week I posted a great video of Dominic Lacasse who has performed for Cirque du Soleil doing some amazing upper body strength feats. I had a look around and found more of him that I wanted to post.

The human body is an amazing machine, work it, train it, become stronger and then use it in a beautiful art form is what Cirque du Soleil is all about.

I was out to see Ka when I was in Vegas two weeks ago and was simply stunned by the beauty and grace of the performers. I’ve only seen one other performance by Cirque and that was when Sunrider brought them to Los Angeles to perform for a private showing for their distributors at the annual convention.

It is my goal to see all the shows.

Enjoy the video clip.

Buying your first kettlebell

Kettlebells are great things. If you need any convincing, just take a look at Tracy Reifkind’s site. Her transformation has been nothing less than amazing.

Once you’ve decided to try a little kettlebell training – particularly if you’re working out at home – there’s one question to answer :
Missy

Which one should I get?

I’m glad you asked.

Swiss Ball Exercise Dumbbell Bench Press

Swiss ball Dumbbell Exercises are a fantastic way to improve core strength while you’re doing what you would normally do anyway. By using dumbbells as free weights, and choosing the Swiss ball instead of a traditional bench, you activate more muscles as you do your weight training. Activating more muscle should burn more fat. Having a stronger core improves posture and just makes you look better. Always use a Swiss ball when you’re doing your dumbbell exercises.

The Swiss Ball Dumbbell Bench Press

Begin by selecting your dumbbells from the rack. Roll out into the starting position tightening or activating your abdominals and lower back so that you have a parallel line from your knees to your head. Together, your abdominals and lower back make up your core.

Your shoulders, head and neck should be on the Swiss ball, while your lower back and the rest of your body is being held in position by your core strength alone.
