Online Weight Loss Tools

Postby janderson99 on Thu Apr 10, 2008 4:23 pm

Hi,
I am looking for an easy to use online tool for monitoring weight loss. Something that includes a weight diary, targets, calories eaten and burnt an graphs of progress. I have looked at Desizeme.com ( http://www.desizeme.com) which is excellent. Has anyone tried it? Are there any similar tools that you may know of. Any comments, ideas? I need something that I can use at home, work anywhere and so it has be be available online.
Cheers,

My suggestion is http://www.fitday.com You can get a free version or the upgrade if you choose to request. Too much work for me right now so I just log my food for myself now..

I have been using Google Personalized home page. http://www.google.ca/ig You need an account with them which is free. I already had one since I use gmail. You can personalize content. I have several tabs set up for my interests with one of them being Weight Loss. In there I have links that populate with different articles and tips. I also have something loaded call the google 15. Basically you weigh yourself daily and enter it in. It gives you a nice graph of your progress and I have found is helping me to notice patterns in weight gain and loss.

For example, in my introduction I mentioned that I am trying to eat healthy through the week but on weekends I indulge more. As a result my graph looks like peaks and valleys. The valleys are through the week when I am eating healthy and the peaks are the weekends. I also notice that each week the max peak is a little lower then the previous week’s peak so I can easily tell I am making progress over time. Also as a result I have decided to now cut back to every other weekend of indulging. Eventually that will be cut back as well. It is nice to be able to see, graphically the progress I am making.

You can also add more than one instance of the tracker to your home page. I have one for my long term goal (where I want to be) and one for a short term goal. Each time I reach the short term goal I will reset it to the new goal.

That tool is just to track weight but there are others tools you can add to your homepage that track what you eat as well as many other things. In case I haven't explained that well and if you have any questions let me know and I will see if I can clarify anything. This has worked really well for me as I spend time on my customized home page everyday anyway to read news and other items like that so this allowed me to track it without having to go to a new site. I have too many user names as passwords as it is.

Thanks,

Mike

very very cool.

I use a personalized google home page, so I'll have a look at the google 15. Nice idea to have short term and long term goals. Me too.

Great input for the forum, thanks.

I do weight loss research all the time, I am passionate about staying healthy (my grandmother died from obesity in 2004)- I have a 3 month old and am trying to lose weight after my 4th pregnancy. I have been able to do it each time previously but usually just wait until the baby is about a year old and I have lost most of it naturally. This time I want it gone QUICK. I will research online diet tools and let you know what I come up with.
