I saw a thread on another forum where the entire group of participants got involved in a challenge to see how long it would take for all of them to do 10,000 pushups as a combined effort.
It works like this: we all begin doing pushups, whatever we can do, whenever we can (every day, every other day, 2x a week etc).
as we do them, we log in and record the number by adding it to the number before in this thread.
The total number of pushups grows, we get more active, we get more stronger, we build more attractive looking chest, shoulders, arms and core.
ie: I do 50 pushups and begin the count
Total Pushups: 50
Cookie does 20 pushups in the next thread and adds it to the total
+20 pushups
Total Pushups: 70
Mike does 30 pushups and adds it in the next thread
+30 pushups
Total Pushups: 100
and we keep doing this, doing pushups, logging in to record them and adding to the total.
So, we're going to start - or at least I'm going to start. If anyone wants to join in, we'll get to 10,000 pushups a lot sooner.
I'm going to set some goals
My goal is 300 pushups a week (100 pushups a day 3x a week). At that rate, it would take me 33 weeks to reach 10,000 pushups, or 8 months
I think combined, we could do it in 3 months. SO beginning now, we should be able to reach 10,000 pushups by October 1st, or the day I leave to climb to Mt Everest Base camp.
so, my goal: 300 pushups a week
combined goal: reach 10,000 pushups by October 1, 2008
and so we begin
