Norm's Introduction

Postby Norm on Tue Oct 09, 2007 11:03 am

Hey my name actually isn't Norm thats just my nickname but ya so as subject states this is my intro, I'm not a former Fat Guy yet but I'm working on it i recently joined up in a gym got the trainer went the whole nine yards essentially. I'm currently 300lbs and the biggest of all my friends and i used to not notice that much mostly due to the fact that some of my friends used to be closer to my size so i didn't really feel left out or anything. But things have changed, all of my friends have lost all of their weight and they always talk of their escapades when they head out on the town and i've been finding that i've been left in the dust. When this hit me I decided somethings got to change so i started looking stories on the net and tips of the best way to lose weight and the best thing i took from this is that if you want to lose weight you need to change your life no diet is going to do it for you because you'll only end up back to square one. And one of the thing's I read was that I agree with is to join a forum to get support from people going through or have gone through the same thing so hear I am, I picked here mainly because I liked the name and I too look forward to being a former fat guy.

You sound like me except that potatoes were never a big deal for me. Stay away from the white foods and go to the darker coloured ones/vibrant and that's a great start. As for growing to like them, experiment! Some of the foods I've tried in recent months are kale, fennel, vegetarian ground beef, tofu, etc. Yes, healthy food can have taste and you'll be amazed how fast your taste buds wil change. Welcome.

Hey Norm. I see it's been about what, 3 weeks since your original post.

you say you're "trying" to do something, to add more vegetables and salads to your day.

what sort of plan do you have in place? what steps are you taking?

ie: are you eating a salad with each meal now? are you eating more vegetables per day? per week?

just curious what plan is in place

ps, how often are you going to the gym, and good move by the way.
