Trying new foods.

What's in the food we eat? Which foods are most nutritious and which ones aren't?

In hummus only or can it be used on other stuff? Does it have a bitter taste or anything?

I am not really sure what I am thinking...:) I saw it in the same section where I buy my almond butter. I wondered what it was...thinking maybe something to be put on veggies to zip them up a bit...

While eating lunch the other day, someone asked me what kind of cheese I was eating. Soya with Jalapenos. I offered them some and broke off a piece. "Mmmm. This is good. Lighter then regular cheese.."

Last night, I cut up a sweet potato and seasoned it. I baked it in the oven as Dad deep fried his fish and chip. I offered him some and he tried a few. I asked him what he thought, "I tried it.." That means, I tried it and might like it but I'm not going to be eating it again. I know my Dad all too well. He's 68 and one time I invited him over for dinner. His words," Don't give me any of that hippie tea". The means, Red Rose tea only and no flavoured teas. Orange Peakoe might just push him over the edge!

I posted a Kohlrahbi recipe on my blog for anyone interested.

This week I'm adventurous. I tried Pepitas. Raw pumpkin seeds. I posted the recipe elsewhere in the forum.

I was eating lunch and someone had two Persimmons. I asked her what they tasted like because I'd always seen them in the grocery store but was afraid to try it. She sliced a piece for me and before you knew it we were chatting about Persimmons, care and taste. This person is not a total stranger to me so its not like I was out begging for food. :) What did it taste like? I cross between a peach without the sweetness and texture similiar to a pear. I was reading up on this and I don't see much good nutritional value for it.. Will I eat it again. Mmmm, maybe not..

Persimmons! I love them! They have more vitamin C than oranges, that's their value!

There are two kinds - Fuyu and Hiyachi. I can never remember which is which. Did you have one that was crunchy or mushy? The crunchy one I like - the other I don't. I absolutely love them.

Sesame seeds are very high in Calcium as well. (so are carrots for that matter)

I once read from a nutritional book that the bodies need for Calcium is so low that 3 sesame seeds is all it takes for the daily requirement.

so, eating tahini fills the bill with a plant based calcium source.

Did you know that the middle eastern desert Halvah which I personally LOVE but avoid because I love it too much

found this info on Sesame Seeds from Whole foods. They say "great for bone's too"
