oil of any kind is still a processed food item. The olives are the natural whole food form and are better to eat than oil. that is true of any oil.

canola oil is very bad for you and I choose not to remember why, so is vegetable oil. we use only sesame and coconut oils.

That is a pretty bold statement. :) Anything? I have read many articles that say olive oil (or oils) is good for the body.

But hey, things change all of the time. It will be interesting to see how your body handles no oil. Keep us updated! :jumping

yep, that's what I had read for years as well.

so now I've read something new that has the documents and research backing it up, so I'm willing to give it a try.

I'm not going oil free either... still eating Coconut oil in the morning and eating a good 1/2 an Avocado a day too. Plus pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and nut butters. It's not like I'm not getting any fats. Just not olive oil

yep, that's what I had read for years as well. And "Anything" may be a bit off. It's got no place in a weight loss program. Once a person is at their goal weight and wants to stop loosing, it can be added back in for extra calories. So ya, Anything was a bit harsh. I'll fix that [fixed: now reads "Olive oil is still fat and doesn't support a weight loss program. - It can be added into your diet once you've reached your goal weight to slow down or stop weight loss."]

so now I've read something new that has the documents and research backing it up, so I'm willing to give it a try.

I was thinking about this whole olive oil thing yesterday and wondered if it would affect my weight loss goals...and then it dawned on me - I DON'T EAT OLIVE OIL ANYMORE! I haven't for probably 4 to 5 months now (I used to eat it all the time with salads). I take my UDO's oil and if I have a spinach salad, I use the UDO's as a part of the homemade salad dressing. And I have not lost any significant weight in the last 4 to 5 months (maybe a pound or two but that is it).

So conclusion for me...eliminating olive oil didn't make a difference in my weight loss.

Rob, do you still take the UDO's oil?

I don't take Udo's, no. It was part of the oil I had to eliminate on :Kristine's instructions. I switched to Coconut oil exclusively.

I'm about to add Udo's back in now though

Week 6 Results

Postby Rob on Sun Jan 13, 2008 3:06 pm

These were my goals for the week:

1. Keep as much of my lungs in my body as possible - Done
2. eat only when hungry - Done - ate very little this past week
3. no starches after 6 PM - Done
4. No Grains at all this week (or month for that matter - it's working for me, so I'm keeping it) - Done
5. eliminate Olive Oil - Done
6. Get in 1 Training session before Monday - Today is my last day for this... Might not get to it, just not feeling too strong yet.
7. Get in two 30 minute walks before Monday - Done - Saturday and Sunday walks
8. maintain my weight from last week - Done. Dropped another half pound and 4% body fat
9. No alcohol - Done

didn't do much this week. No real training, no real walking and didn't feel like eating much at all. Still wasn't feeling good.

Sunday night, had 1/2 a flute of champagne to honor a friends "Employee of the year" award.

if I had been given a chance, I would have declined, but it was presented as a bit of a surprise and kinda thrust in my face, so to honor his award (which I was so happy for him for), I enjoyed the 1/2 glass.
