day by day...

Postby losingweightdaily on Tue Jul 17, 2007 6:32 am

A little over a month ago I decided to finally focus on losing weight. I'm 24 and busy busy busy -- 10 hour days, partner at home, freelance work to boot -- and have been fat all my life. The previous 18-24 months had been pretty stressful, ranging from emotional stress (long distance relationship after a cross-country move until we could both get to New York), a bad job, a new job, a stressful job, job unhappiness, robbery, and family stress with my folks splitting up. Overall I steadily gained and gained (and I was already fat) until I reached what I estimate was 320 pounds or so, if not more (I only finally measured 3.5 weeks into my journey last week). So it was finally time to change all this; I'd been promising myself for a decade, my partner for two years, and now I was just being stupid and dangerous.

I decided a few things would be different for me this time around. While I'm really quite an introvert and especially private about my weight and work out, I didn't want to go it completely alone. Accountability reasons (my partner will always let me slide if I insist) for sure but also encouragement from others on similar journies was necessary. I decided this time around, I wasn't going to do a "diet" but instead go with Basic Math - burn more than I take in - and work towards healthy eating habits. I also decided I would blog (http://losingweightdaily.blogspot.com) through the journey regularly to keep myself honest, open to anyone who needed to find it, and have something to look back on. And lastly I would seek out community with others who are on the same journey, which has brought me here. I have other little things in there too, like stated goals & rewards, affirmation statement & motivational images, and learning as much as I can on health and fitness, but those are the major things.

So here I is, looking forward to meeting and chatting with others. Cheers,

Making the decsion to lose weight is a difficult one, and it is definatly something that needs to come from within yourself, FOR yourself.

Good luck on the journey and don't give up...it will be worth the effort!!!
