onesmartcookie.

Instead of nacho chips and salsa you could switch it to pita chips and homemade salsa, or you could try pita chips and hummus.
(pita chips= cut your pita bread like a pie and place it in the oven till it crisps up)

Also try to get rid of those rice cakes. They may seem like te perfect "diet food" but they hold no nutritional value whatsoever. Substitute those for a handful of almonds and a piece of fruit, or a handful of raw veggies, or some almond butter on rye bread ( something that I have found to be DELICIOUS).

What time you should stop eating really depends on your meal intervals.

Mine are:
7am
9:30am
12:30pm
3:30pm
6:30pm

I will usually have a piece of fruit between 8 and 9 pm

In my opinion, your last "meal" should be before 7pm, but have a snack later. Remember that anything you eat close to bedtime is most likely going to walk around your stomach collecting fat. Choose wisely.

You can find almond butter at almost any organic food store I believe.

You can even make your own if you wish.

I like multigrain pitas. Try to avaid the white variety

awesome, glad to hear it!

Breakfast
1 scoop of protein shake
1 cup of skim milk
1 banana

Snack
2 small apricots

all good except I would recommend cutting out the milk. Try soy, almond or rice milk. Almond is sweeter - but get the plain with less sugar or none if you can.

Lunch

Small chicken breast
Asparagus
Cherries
Small Yogurt

Afternoon Snack
2 Rice Cakes

again good except more dairy and rice cakes really don't give you any value except fill you up - they have no nutritive value. Think in terms of quality in = energy and fat burning out. go for a higher quality snack that has fibre and more nutrients. Check the recipes section for snack ideas.

Dinner

Red Potatoes
Hamburger Patty
Mixed Vegetables

After Dinner
Tall Latte made with Non Fat Milk

the hamburder is not so bad it's what you put on it. was there cheese and mayo? instead choose a light ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - NO butter, NO white bun. if the bread is white - just eat the meat patty no bun. veggies - with what on them? skip the butter. Yes latte - ask for soy milk or none - or better yet skip the coffee.

Natchos and Salsa.

get the baked nachos not fried, watch for saturated fats in them. watch for salt in the salsa - see my recipe here

Ok, let's look at it. I will try to cut out milk. It's hard! I love milk, cheese and feta! Dinner was out of control, its what they were serving. The hamburger was 350 calories! I didn't have Ice Cream after dinner . That is my last coffee. Today it is herbal tea. Natchos and Salsa. I crave crunch! What time should I stop eating? Can I eat something else besides natcho chips to go with salsa? Yes, baby steps....

okay how to get rid of dairy - think about long term goals. Yes you love the milk, cheese, etc when you are eating it - but do you love what they do to and in your body? Would you prefer less mucus in your body? That's what they do - big time! would you prefer less acid, less toxins that are stored in FAT? that's also what they do. Do you like the hormones, antibiotics and steroids in dairy and what they do in your body? I choose not to even look at milk without it turning my stomach now. I see the fat swimming in it - even in skim (skim is still 30% fat you realize? and not good fat either)

if you want crunch - get some almonds and carrots and celery. stop eating 3 hours before bed time.

to go with salsa? whole wheat pita chips. ryvita crackers. dig veggies in it.

today

1 - I caught the football twice at my game! yahoo!

2 - I had a fabulous green smoothie for breakfast

3 - ate really well today and put priority on me first!

oh, and one guy on my team was talking about how old he was and dating himself with his 21st high school reunion. I told him I could probably give him a run for his money - he said "doubt it" - ended up I was 3 years older than him! he didn't believe I'm 40. THAT was fun!

1. Made shake with protein powder and blueberries. Filled me up so much I forgot to eat until 2 PM!

2. Had fruit salad for lunch with fresh blackberries and was so full I could only eat half of my bowl of roasted cauliflower soup!

3. Sushi for dinner!

4. Bought Soy Milk and will be trying it for the first time!

5. I'm starting to feel calmer......

1. Tried Soy Milk with powder and blueberries for breakfast!
2. Lunch was red lentils with veggies and Yves veggie ground chicken. Yogurt and granola bar.
3. Wrap. Bread and cheese. I ate this too, too late! 10:00 PM tonight!

excellent except the late eating. Unless you are staying up until 1am, then is okay to snack at 10pm.

what kind of wrap was it? any wraps have flour, usually white - turn straight into sugar and fat in your body. Cheese - high fat, high acid, high mucus forming.

what time was your breakfast?
lunch?
then not eating until 10pm?

I would suggest you take that yougurt (try switching to soy or goat yogurt) and granola bar (not the best either, usually loaded with sugar) and put the snack in between meals

you are doing great though - being conscious of what you are eating and when is a great step - put that as #3 on your successes today - awareness!

Yesterday was a tough day. I was working 1-9. I had breakfast at around 10 so my "lunch" was at 4:30. Dinner wasn't until I got home. When I work those shifts, it really throws my body out of whack!

The 'dinner' was through Tim Horton's! Unfortunately they had no whole wheat wraps so yes, it was white.

Today is a new day! I will eat well today.
