Ideas

Postby trimin on Fri Apr 25, 2008 9:21 pm

Hey all I am looking for ideas for healthy meals that will help me lose weight, as of now I am aware of the dreaded tuna meal :) but looking for other options or ideas.

Thanks!

Me too! That's what my trainer recommended for my protein...but he also told me i can eat corned beef (without oil and no salt) if i get tired of it. Right now, i'm tired of both. :( I hope others can give us more ideas... and cheap ones too.

absolutely - I write recipes on Rob's blog and was putting on one new one weekly but got behind. I'm back at it again - a new one comes out tomorrow for holidays actually. You can sign up to get them sent directly to your inbox if you go to my page here:

You asked for good and "cheap" - let me ask you this, what is your health worth to you? What are you worth to yourself? What other things do you spend money on perhaps daily that you could cut? Far too often we cheap out on ourselves and our own health so that we can have a fancy house, fancy car, nice clothes, shoes, etc. I urge you to take a good look at what you spend money on monthly and if food is low on the list - why?

how much do you spend to keep your car running? If you had a high performance vehicle would you put premium fuel in it to make it run smoothly? Change the oil and filter regularly? get tune ups? Isn't your body worth that effort too?

PS if you want "cheap" - or lower cost meals - start buying dried beans. They are about the least expensive thing you can buy and eat and are loaded with protein, fiber (fills you up so you eat less of the wrong things) and nutrients.

Here's some black bean recipes to start off with

Instead of using sugar (for anything!), use the herbal sweetner stevia... It's in the supplement section of health food stores. The brand Kal tastes the best ;)

the only brand of stevia I use is Sunrider. All the rest that I've found have steviacide in them - alcohol.

you can also use Agave, which is more natural too and works fine in recipes.
