Poll: What Do You Choose For A Liquid Breakfast
By Rob
I asked the question Do You Eat Breakfast ? back in October and of the people who voted, 79% said that they do. The benefits of eating breakfast are plenty and when Christina began the conscious effort to eat when she woke up, she found that she had more energy through the day, was more emotionally balanced and ate less in the evenings. She lost 5 pounds in the first two weeks of beginning the new practice and burned the phrase “eat breakfast and lose weight” into her brain.

Today I read DoshDosh’s question on twitter about liquid breakfasts which then got me thinking about what people choose as liquid breakfasts. I’ve done them all, coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice, raw egg whites, protein shakes with EFA’s. In a few months I’ll be getting out my juicer and doing a bunch of green smoothies a la the Former Fat Guy but these days it’s a traditional breakfast along with Sunrider Nuplus, Quinary and Calli tea.
I know why people choose liquid breakfasts – convenience. My question today is
I’m sure there are a lot of other options for liquid breakfasts so if you’ve got one, pass it along. If it’s a green smoothie or home made protein shake recipe, leave it in the comments.
I’m officially taking up more interest in twitter now. If you’re interested in following along with my “behind the scenes” thoughts, opinions, conversations or special pre-post information on health, weight loss, weight training or help answer questions in regards to my new 12 week course or upcoming book, hook up with me on twitter.

Hi! I love Green Smoothies for breakfast and have a number of my recipes posted on my blog at http://www.KristensRaw.blogspot.com.
Today, I had kale, pineapple, and lemon juice.
Tomorrow, I’ll have parsley, chia seeds, frozen bananas, and maybe some raw chocolate and hemp protein powder.
Cheers!

I would definitely go with the orange juice! Can’t beat nature’s fruits for the healthiest greatest tasting drink!

Normally I don’t drink any juices in the morning… If I do drink something it’s always water, right before I eat something.
For some reason I think water is the most “refreshing” in the morning on an empty stomach. It feels like you’re charging your batteries and you’re ready for a new day.
Most of the time though, just a bowl of oatmeal will do as well. Has plenty of water in that dish as well.

Nico, I couldn’t agree more.
First thing in the morning, it’s pure clean water for me – and me too, it’s like recharging the batteries.
However, after that – then what? if it’s a liquid breakfast, what do you choose?

Every day I blend a scoop and a half of whey (30g protein), two scoops of plain/unflavored uncooked oatmeal, a cup of skim milk, ice cubes, and blueberries. Blend for 30-40 seconds. Thick, cold, refreshing, and extremely delicious and healthy.

Sounds good Mike.
What kind of whey? brand name I mean? Isolated whey or Undenatured whey protein?

I’m trying the low-carb route. I’ve cut the skim milk, oatmeal, and berries out of the shake. Now I just blend 2 scoops chocolate whey powder (GNC Pro 100% Whey, Isolate, 5g carbs per serving) with water and ice cubes. Brings the shake down from 60g carbs (including simple sugars) to about 10 carbs. But I definitely need to eat sooner again (usually a serving of cottage cheese with a scoop of chocolate whey and cinnamon mixed in about 1.5hrs later), since it doesn’t hold me over as long.
