This weekend I was meeting some of my boyfriends cousins for the first time. One was complaining that she was going to dump her boyfriend because he didn't say "I love you" on voice messages anymore. I thought three things. 1: There must be more going on in that relationship. 2: It is pretty immature to end a relationship over something so petty or at the very least, not recognize what the real reasons are. 3: Why not communicate to your boyfriend that you wish he would say those words when leaving a phone message? I bet he would if you told him it was important to you. She is setting him up for failure and then punishing him for failing. Does that sound like something a sane person would do? But yet, how often do we all do that in our own relationships? I bet you are thinking that this woman must be in her teens or 20's....but she is in her 50's! I couldn’t agree more, Israel.
