My Spartan women has introduced me to the African Queen Candace. She is so very dominant in my mind and I can feel a powerful draw to her. Might be the name. As I began this hunt for any information on her, she and my guides lead me to what I needed so I could share this all with you. What I have discovered is pretty remarkable, so this journey of discovery with me. You won’t be sorry.

In my search, the first article I was lead to was about, now get this, Amazon Black Sparta. See this just proves we are all connected. I never knew about a Black Sparta. How cool is that! In this article it talks of women worriers from all nations. Complete armies of nothing but women. Fierce, Loyal, Strong women who fought with all their heart for their beliefs and nation.

It was through this article that I found African Queen Candace, however there is not a lot of information about her, in-particular. You will find out later why I say that. I do know that she was the general of her own army as well as Empress and was feared by any opposing force at the time. Even Alexander the Great would not oppose her and stopped at the Ethiopian boarder so he would not be defeated. That’s pretty powerful!

I also came across the fact that Candace is mentioned in the bible only once. It is said that Ethiopia is one of the oldest Christian nations in history. Here is the passage that is presented:

“And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet” (Acts 8:26-28, the context continues through verse 40).

Pretty amazing, yet this is only the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to this journey we will be on. In the next article we will find out who Candace really was and what she meant to her people and how she was able to rule in a world full of men.
