first of all
Salam to all and thanks for the information and about vitamin C

31 Ravi Bains September 26, 2011 at 2:50 am

Hi,

for all the people who are wondering which food REALLY has the highest vitamin C content, here goes.

Camu Camu fruit has approximately 40 to 60 times more vitamin C than oranges and is the number 2 edible fruit for vitamin C.

Kakadu Fruit/Gubinge is the highest known vitamin C food in the world.
It has slightly more vitamin C than Camu Camu.

Wild Potatoes which are mostly not edible are higher but only their immature tubers can be eaten.

Other notable mentions are rosehips/guava (as mentioned in this article) and Indian gooseberries (amla).

32 TheScientist October 10, 2011 at 11:34 am

I would appreciate it if those that are leaving comments, providing different claims for different fruits that contain more vitamin C than the humble gauva, could link a source supporting this view. Otherwise, they are just empty claim.

33 Rob October 11, 2011 at 4:13 pm

@Scientist – agreed.

good to know

but i think you should’ve ranked the fruits by Vitamin per 100g or some similar unit, a medium kiwi has less vitamin c than a papaya, but then again a papaya is bigger than a kiwi if you cath my drift

cheers

Great post on Top Fruits for Vitaminc C Content. As a Holistic Health Practitioner I would like to share some personal experiences with Camu Camu Berry. Having been professionally trained on the subject of raw foods and superfoods, Camu is indeed the highest source of Vitamin C in the world containing 30-60 times the Vitamin C content in an orange. One teaspoon accounts for 1180% DV of Vitamin C, simply incredible. I also find myself using it in combination with MSM (which works best with Vitamin C) to support healthy skin, nails, and hair due to its high sulfur content. I would like to invite all of you to visit my website and blog The Gonzolution to learn more about my background, experiences, and signature services.

37 Angel February 17, 2012 at 4:45 pm

Why is the Camu Camu berry not at the top of this list? It is known as the fruit with the HIGHEST vitamin C! Not to mention the Acerola Cherries. This are both higher in Vitamin C than anything on your list!

38 Angel February 17, 2012 at 4:49 pm

Here are links providing info about why the Camu Camu berry and Acerola Cherries have much more vitamin C!

Hope you update your article so people can get accurate information about this! I was looking for a complete comparison including these two SUPERFOODS to other more common fruits and I was thankful to find your article, but shocked you did not include these amazing foods to it!
